Cloth is never only cloth. Around every loom there are people, and these are the human threads that run through the weaving: the songs sung at the loom, the routes the textiles travelled, the meanings held in the motifs, and the way the knowledge passes from one pair of hands to the next. कपड़ा कभी केवल कपड़ा नहीं होता। हर करघे के पीछे लोग होते हैं, और यहाँ वही मानवीय सूत्र हैं जो बुनाई में चलते रहते हैं: करघे पर गाए जाने वाले गीत, वे मार्ग जिन पर कपड़ा चला, नमूनों में बसे अर्थ, और वह तरीक़ा जिससे यह ज्ञान एक जोड़ी हाथों से दूसरी तक पहुँचता है।

Cloth has always travelled. From village haats to caravan cities, handloom moved along rivers, coasts and grand trunk roads, carrying patterns and stories with it.
